This policy explains how Tomohard ltd, trading as Tomohard, uses cookies and similar technologies on this website. It is provided under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR) and the UK GDPR. It should be read with our Privacy Policy and UK GDPR notice.

1. What cookies and similar technologies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your device. Similar technologies include local storage, which a page can use to store a short value in your browser, and pixels or scripts that read an identifier. PECR treats these technologies in the same way where they store or access information on your device.

Cookies are either session cookies, which end when you close the browser, or persistent cookies, which stay until they expire or you delete them. They are also either first-party, set by the site you are visiting, or third-party, set by another organisation.

2. How UK law treats them

PECR allows storage or access on your device only where it is strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested, or where you have given consent after clear information. Consent for non-essential cookies must meet the UK GDPR standard: it must be freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous, and it must be as easy to refuse as to accept. You can withdraw consent later.

Where a cookie identifies you, the UK GDPR also applies to the personal data it collects. Strictly necessary cookies still need a lawful basis under the UK GDPR, which for this site is our legitimate interest in remembering a choice you have asked the site to remember, or in providing a feature you requested.

3. What this website uses

This website does not set advertising cookies, social-media cookies, or analytics cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising networks, or video trackers on these pages.

We store one value in your browser’s local storage so that the cookie notice does not appear on every page after you have made a choice.

The value is either “true” or “false”. It does not contain your name, email address, telephone number, or any financial information. Recording a refusal is itself strictly necessary: without it, the notice would return on every visit and you could not express a lasting choice.

Your browser may also keep ordinary technical information for the duration of a connection, such as the page address requested. We do not use that information to build a profile of you.

4. The cookie notice

When you first visit, a notice explains that the site uses storage for this purpose. You can accept or decline. Both choices are stored in cookies_accepted. Because we do not set non-essential cookies, declining does not switch off an analytics or advertising tool. It records your preference and closes the notice.

If we later add a non-essential cookie, such as an analytics tool, we will update this policy first, describe the cookie in the table above, and ask for consent before that cookie is set. Accepting the current notice is not consent for a future advertising or analytics cookie.

5. How to control or delete storage

You can remove the stored choice, and block future storage, in your browser. The steps differ by browser. Current help pages are published by the browser makers:

Choose the option that clears cookies and site data, or local storage, for this website. If you block all storage, the cookie notice will appear again because the site cannot remember your choice. The rest of the website, including the enquiry form, will still work.

Private or incognito browsing usually discards local storage when you close the window. The notice will then appear on the next visit.

6. Third parties

We do not authorise third parties to set cookies on this website for their own purposes. If you follow a link to a lender, a regulator, or another website, that site sets its own cookies under its own policy. We have no control over those cookies.

7. Changes

We will post any change to this policy on this page and update the date at the top. Where a change involves a new non-essential cookie, we will ask for consent before we set it.

8. More information and contact

The Information Commissioner’s Office publishes guidance on cookies and similar technologies at ico.org.uk.
